Gel Print Workshop

Free Live Workshop!

Spark your creativity with my LIVE 2-day 'Gel Print Studio' workshop. Discover how gel printing works, the supplies you need to get started (not many!), and the kinds of prints you can make.  We start on Wednesday, September 9th.

Do you want to unleash your creativity with this exciting new art form?

All you need is a gel plate, a brayer (aka "a roll-y thing"), acrylic water-based paints, paper (copy paper is fine), and items to press into the paint.

In the workshop I'll show you how the process works and we'll create a variety of prints. Get your questions answered during live Q & A sessions.

Don't have supplies? Maybe you've never done gel printing before. No problem...this workshop will set you on the gel plate path.

 How does gel printing work?

The gel plate is made of plasticizers and mineral oil. You can actually feel an oily texture when you touch it.

Water-based acrylic paint is rolled onto the plate...and remember, oil and water don't mix! So the paint doesn't get absorbed into the plate...it just sits on top of it.

Once you have the right amount of paint on the plate, you can press in all sorts of objects--botanicals, seashells, trash from your recycling bin, stamps, stencils, anything with texture.

Then you put paper on top of the paint and do a pull....and voila, you have an amazing print.

Check out the video below for a sped-up version of printmaking in action.

We start on Wednesday September 9th.
